A hot and suffocated day. Have been listening to Tito Puente all day for 10 hours. 1956's "Puente In Percussion" is insanely great --- all time fave 100, while "Dance of the Headhunters" is perfect fever.

他的音樂有時侯像一種粗微粒公路電影的配樂，同時間像一種熱帶雨林的巴洛克室樂。令人更投入於某種天陰，為暗地的日子多添一層低反差的色調，一層空氣厚密的潮濕的七十年代初的南美洲。從某個角度聽，他於1969年在老家巴西錄製的首張同名唱片，是他的最優秀，最耐聽。所有對他的關注和興趣，其實都環繞於這張唱片。遇到某些天氣，就會想起它。

如果整個六十年代的巴西音樂是一個非常漫長的盛夏，那麼它的後遺症，就是連續幾年的陰暗，反映在一批1973年的唱片，都是有點鬱悶低調，有點愁傷聚變。後來發現實際上並非全部來自1973年（這張 “Egberto Gismonti” 就原來是1969年的），衹不過都圍繞於七十年代初這個氣氛有點特殊的時期。
